Grilled Portabella Sandwich
I’m going to let you in on a little secret, Readers. My little kitchen is going to be undergoing a makeover next week, and while I have been cooking a fair amount, I’ve been rationing the recipes so that I have some stuff to give you while I won’t have a stove. Or a sink. Or a floor.
So here is just a little taste of what I’ve been up to all summer. A few bites on my travels, some things I’ve already posted and a few things you can expect in the coming weeks.
Spicy Bloody Mary at Bacon & Butter, Sacramento
Gelato at Amador Vintage Market, Plymouth, CA
Date Shake at the famous Shield’s Date Garden, Indio, CA
My favorite pie–The Elisa, at Masullo, Sacramento, CA
The Corned Beef and Pastrami Combination sandwich at Sherman’s Deli, Palm Springs
Apricot Upside-Down Cake, made with apricots from our neighbor’s yard.
Charcuterie Platter from Salumi Artisan Cured Meats, Seattle
The beginning to another excellent meal at Mulvaney’s B&L, Sacramento
Fish and chips, made with cod my son caught in the Bay using Hank Shaw’s excellent recipe for frying fish.
Amazing ceviche at The Dahlia Lounge, Seattle
No summer would be complete without a dog from Casper’s. Hayward, CA.
Some god damned beautiful sushi at Shiro’s. Seattle.
I may have partaken in some sake-drinking also. Musashi Restaurant, Palm Desert, CA.
Classic Nicoise Salad. Look for it soon. Here, on this blog I mean.
You know I didn’t just eat one hot dog. This one I cooked myself, but it’s a Morant’s dog covered in Morant’s special sauerkraut. Morant’s Old Fashioned Sausage Kitchen is in Sacramento, CA.
What have YOU all been eating this summer? Let me know in the comments.
