So much of the joy of food is remembering specific events, or people–who you ate the food with, or who you cooked the food with, or for me–who you may have discussed the food with at great length.

A year ago today we lost our good friend Eric. You can read my post about it here and about the fight against Pulmonary Embolism here.

My sweet friend Kim also lost her father the other night after a battle with cancer. He was the incredible Sacramento artist Tom Dochterman and a lover of food and it made me happy that he was enjoying my food writing cerebrally when he couldn’t enjoy eating physically any longer. He will be missed too.
