Party On, Utah Style–Tropical Green Jell-O Shots

by Undercover Caterer on October 14, 2011

Jell-O is synonymous with Utah.  In fact, Utah designated Jell-O as the state’s “official snack” in 2001.  I guess there is even an official Utah Green Jell-O Salad.   So what better way to celebrate my arrival in Utah than to make green Jell-O shots?

Fancy ingredients.

There are a few recipes out there for green apple jello shots–using Green Apple Pucker and green apple Jello.  We only found lime jello at the little store near my cousin’s house so we decided to pair it with the tropical flavored ‘Island Blue’ Pucker.  We like to stay classy like that.

Jell-O Shots are hecka easy to make, if you can just get over yourself and embrace the fact that you are going to be licking boozy sweet dessert jellies out of a shot glass. It’s fun.

Little helper.

If you have little helpers around, be sure to make a batch of non-boozy Jell-O shots so they don’t feel left out.

Ready for consumption, at your own risk of course.

When I’ve made these before, we used little plastic cups that I bought at Smart and Final–like little disposable salsa cups.  This was kind of a spur-of-the-moment thing, and as Shannon doesn’t have a Smart and Final in her town of 2787 people, we used a silicone muffin pan.  We didn’t want to eat them out of the pan so we just scooped them into shot glasses.

They were ready by the time we got home from the bar.  A snack and shot in one–a perfect nightcap!

Bottoms up!
