Hi! Ready for more junk food? I got it. It’s Day 4 of this Superbowl tangent.
I only have part of the story behind this picture. For whatever reason, a joke, who knows, these madcap ladies decided to take this guy out to lunch…..WITHOUT HIS WIFE! Ha ha ha ha! I think he might have been the fire chief or something. I don’t remember. Relatives? Chime in here.
Dig the old polynesian restaurant!
Another day closer to Superbowl, another dip for you to share with your loved ones.
I have to admit though, this one is pure junk food. There may be some canned soup involved. Eat this at your own risk.
It specifically has ‘bean ‘n bacon’ soup. What on earth is ‘bean ‘n bacon’ soup? I had never heard of such a thing before trying this recipe, and was skeptical that Campbell’s even made it anymore. But they do!
Doesn’t it look disgusting?
You just heat all the stuff in a saucepan till it melts and becomes warm, then eat it with some Fritos.
It has to be Fritos. The recipe said ‘tortilla chips’ but I disagree. It’s Fritos or nothing baby.
Betty Freeman, whoever you are, thanks for giving this spectacular and strange recipe to Nana!
***************************************************
Nana’s Chili-Bean Dip
1 can bean ‘n bacon soup (Campbell’s)
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
2 Tbsp chopped onion
chili powder to taste
…………………………………………………………………………
Mix together in a small saucepan and heat through. Serve hot with tortilla chips. (OR FRITOS)

He was the Fire Chief – it was in honor of his wife’s birthday that the ladies took him out to lunch.
I’m howling with laughter right now.
Sadly, I have similar canned food-family recipes. I should send some your way.
As a child, I grew up in a largely snack free house, so I would often snack on Campbell’s soup. From the can. I may have done that with bean n’ bacon, can’t specifically remember. I think I’ve blocked it out. It’s a very unnatural color. Where do they find beans that color?
Straight out of the can?
Or just post them on your blog! We could start a trend.
Fritos should ALWAYS be mandatory.
Agreed!
You obviously didn’t grow up in the Midwest if you never heard of bean & bacon soup. Just about anything from Campbells was the go to guy for hotdishes. Betty Freeman must have been from Minnesota, ya you betcha!
