Otherwise known as “Boozy Brownies”.
One boozy brownie and a mother’s little helper….how do you think most of these women did all this stuff? Kids, auxiliaries, husbands, bridge games, cocktail parties….Calgon take me away!
Oh wait. That sounds grand. I’ll do all that stuff and I don’t even need a mother’s little helper. Just get me out of work, please.
Wait a second. Nana was being recognized for 4500 hours of service. Maybe that doesn’t sound so grand after all—hey, that’s kind of like work!
Back to our boozy brownies. It’s pretty much a doctored up mix but you could start with a pan of your favorite homemade brownies too. It’s all the extras that we’re excited about here.
Like rum. And bourbon. More chocolate is good too.
First, just prepare your favorite brownie mix or your homemade brownies. Add 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans.
Bake. According to package directions, of course. That’s layer #1, by the way.
Here is layer #2. Rum frosting! Very basically, it’s a smidge of rum, powdered sugar and butter. Set aside.
Oh look! The brownies are done. Put the pan on a rack and grab the bourbon. You may taste it for QA purposes if you like.
Next, dribble 4 Tbsp of bourbon all over the cake. Let it soak in and let it sit until cool.
Then goes the layer of rum frosting. Refrigerate for at least an hour.
Easy chocolate icing: 1 bag chocolate chips + 2 Tbsp butter. Melt together. Spread over the cooled brownies. As you can see, mine doesn’t look very pretty. Why? Because I didn’t wait long enough and my brownies were still warm. It was 9:30 p.m. and I was getting too tired to wait much longer! If you are patient, you will have a better looking result. (But it still tastes the same)
You could wait till it’s cool. Or you could just go ahead and eat it. Who cares if it doesn’t come out looking perfect? Pour yourself some milk if you’re a milk drinker. Zane says you’ll need extra milk.
These actually aren’t overly boozy.
But they are rich, moist and extra-chocolatey!
