Here’s my boy and me, ready for an awesome night out on the town in San Francisco. Dinner, a show, etc.
The kid’s 18. He’s got a sophisticated palate of course, but what do 18-year-olds really like? Burgers. So we went to Hubert Keller’s Burger Bar in Union Square.
I wanted to start with some booze, so as I was perusing the beer and wine list, I came across this very rare specimen of beer. The Pabst Blue Ribbon. I love the desciption: “Clear yellow with a darkish tint and a thin white head. Aroma is full of malts with a sweet undertone of sugar and molasses”. That evening was the most thought I’d ever given to what Pabst tasted like.
And, while the PBR sounded delightful, I decided to go with this fancy cucumber cocktail. The kid got a shake.
A very fancy and expensive shake. I guess you can get them with booze, too.
So the concept of the Burger Bar is that you can choose everything: Meat, bun, toppings, condiments. The kid got Kobe with avocado, bacon, caramelized onions.
It ended up being pretty tall.
I got Kobe with the Perigord-black truffle sauce that they make at Fleur-de-Lys.
The sauce was pretty much outta site. I even dipped my fries in it. As you can see, the burger is cooked to juicy medium-rare perfection.
AND! (giggle giggle)

He was a total sweetheart and this picture is worth the $100 I spent on 2 hamburgers.
The End.
