I’ve been driving past this place on Franklin Blvd for what seems like years but just never ventured in. But after reading some of an old friend’s blog, I decided to quit just relying on my old standbys and start trying some new joints. I also realized that the only way people find new awesome places to eat is like finding a soulmate…..by kissing a lot of frogs.
So, like most restaurants named Mazatlan, it is mostly a mariscos kind of a place, but they had a few tacos, burritos and tortas, too.
You order at the window above, and pick it up below through the little window. Dig the crazy palm mirrors!
Doesn’t this mural just transport you right to the beach?
Some not-so-fresh oysters and an adovada taco. I suspect the oysters had been frozen.
Mixed seafood cocktail. The best thing we tried. The octopus was good.
Ceviche tostada. It was ok. Fresh tasting but the fish was really chopped up into tiny bits, which made it kind of mushy and unappetizing.
Shrimp cocktail on saltines.
Aaron got a buche taco–literally “head”. I already made the jokes. Yep.
Anyway, it was affordable but likely not someplace I’ll return.
