Don’t say I didn’t warn you. It says right there in the description of this blog that there would be mention of surgeries.
So, it seems the diagnosis on the right wrist is radial tunnel syndrome. I went to look it up to see what the surgery looked like, and the top search items were all about tires. I guess radial tunnel syndrome isn’t all that common. It’s typically caused by repetitive motion, but can also be caused by blunt force—-such as a fall, which is what happened.
So, here’s what’s going on, maybe right this very minute:
Step one, incision. Looks like a big ‘un. Yuck.
Digging down into the muscles. Lucky my arm is small, no big Popeye forearms here to dig through.
Uh, I don’t know what this means exactly, but I assume this is the part where they fix it.
Anyway, I get to be off work for a long time and go out to lunch a lot. I’m pretty excited about it, really. And maybe my arm won’t hurt anymore. I’m excited about that too.
I have been blogging like a madwoman so that you’ll have stuff to read until the cast comes off. They are working on my right arm today and I am hopelessly right-handed so I’m guessing that typing is going to be very annoying for a while. Hopefully I’ll be up and typing again soon! Meanwhile, I’ll just be chilling out in a painkiller haze.
