Pizza Porn

I have decided.

For thin crust pizza, the best in Sac is Masullo. Hot Italian is good, and OneSpeed is ok too, but Robert Masullo kills it every time. Skinny, crispy Neopolitan-style pizza with the perfect amount of the freshest toppings. Good simple salads and affordable booze. Rustic desserts. Friendly staff. I can overlook the noise for this food.

I’ve heard that the pizzas are all named after people Mr. Masullo knows. Ahem. I wouldn’t mind a Sarah pizza Mr. Masullo–shoot, I’m in there enough.

Zelda’s disclaimer: Zelda’s has a nice deep dish, crispy pizza that is not in this same category–It’s in a class by itself)

I mentioned the affordable booze, right?

Mixed Green salad, my favorite. Greens, La Quercia proscuitto, Grana Padano, Pecorino Romano and vinaigrette.

Incidentally, La Quercia is made in Iowa. My hero Jeffrey Steingarten calls it “the best domestically produced or imported prosciutto I have tasted.”

I ordered the Elisa: Tomato, mozzarella, Fra’Mani Toscano salami, onion, fennel, Pecorino Romano and oregano. This one may be my favorite. There’s just something about that razor-thin fennel….Looks good enough to eat, doesn’t it?

My cousin isn’t much of a pork person (I KNOW! Can we really be related?), so she went with a Margherita–just tomato, basil and mozzarella–and added spinach and roasted peppers.

Oh crap, I’m getting hungry.

For dessert, we split a pear tart thing, but in our greed, dug into it prior to the photo session. You get the general idea though, right?

And now, for gratuitous cuteness:

The little darling decided on the 3-scoop bowl of cherry vanilla ice cream, and as you can see, polished it off nicely.
